1 Nephi 1:1 "In All My Days"
Jul 25, 2026
I'm starting at the beginning again.
I zealously start many things. I'm not always good at sticking with them. I can't promise this time will be different. I can step forth boldly and share the journey though.
That's an uncomfortable growth point. Now if I fail to follow through I fail publicly. 😐
Yup. Time to face that fear and grow through it. Yay for growth.
One thing about me is that I live what I teach. So join me for this growth journey. Something in my gut knows this time feels different. I'm excited.
1 Nephi 1:1
"having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days"
What's the difference between "in the course of my days" and "in all my days"?
Stop and ponder that question in your own soul for a moment.
It's not the part of 1 Nephi 1:1 that I usually focus on, but today it is deeply significant for me. He tells us that many afflictions came in the course of his days, but that he knew he was favored as the Lord in all of his days. To me, that means that the adversity came and went through the ups and downs of life. But, seeing the goodness of God and feeling His love and tender mercies was different. He felt that and saw that every single day, all of his days.
The human brain naturally focuses on the negative. It's called "negativity bias." Somehow it's a protective mechanism, but it sure skews our beliefs about life and ourself and our relationships. Sometimes that's going to happen to all of us in the course of our days.
At the same time, God's goodness and love and favor and tender mercies are there all of our days, if we choose to see it.
So, as I begin anew with my Book of Mormon study and begin with sharing my journey of growth more openly, I want to commit to being more like Nephi. I will share authentically the ups and downs of the journey in the course of my days. And, I will also share in all of my days the reasons I have to praise the Lord and rejoice in His love and tender mercies.
I use a "PRESS Forward" approach to guide my daily growth. I'm sure that will come up in the course of sharing my journey. But for today, I want to share that the "P" stands for "praise." And this is today's praise to the Lord, my heartfelt gratitude.
P...green growing things here in Ohio, being surrounded by LIFE; deep peace in my condo, a PLACE to grow in safety; TIME in the morning to connect and commune with heaven and my own Wise Woman self; AGENCY to choose what I believe and do today.
